The farmworker population is low-income and primarily Hispanic, and is at a disproportionate risk from exposure to an environmental contaminant-. The United Farm Workers of America, or more commonly just United Farm Workers (UFW), is a labor union for farmworkers in the United States. It originated from the merger of two workers' rights organizations, the Agricultural Workers Organizing Committee (AWOC) led by organizer Larry Itliong, and the National Farm Workers Association (NFWA) led by César Chávez and Dolores ation: Change to Win Federation.   The farmworkers the year before had won a really big strike. In the crews we were on often refused to get off the bus, for instance if they smelled pesticide in the air, or if they didn’t.
